Course Description:
This eight-week study program will give a general introduction to culture specific evangelism.

Session One: Intro. to “Culture Specific Evangelism” Part 1

* View Week One Video (Dr. Daniel Kikawa).
* Read What Is Culture Specific Evangelism by Daniel Kikawa (8 pages)
* Read Identity Formation and Spiritual Development by Joseph Ozawa (12 pages)
* Read Jesus Living and Discipling Among the Lost by John Ridgeway, Mission Frontiers, May-June, 2011 Issue.
* Pray daily for Japan and Japanese, using Operation Japan. Make a note in your blog concerning the information and/or your prayer.
* Participate in a telephone conference call. The call will help to get acquainted with the students, explain procedures and answer any questions.
* Post thoughts and questions online concerning your assignments. Pray daily for Japan and Japanese, using Operation Japan. Make a note in your blog concerning the information and/or your prayer.

Session Two: Intro. to “Culture Specific Evangelism” Part 2

* View Week Two Video (Dr. Daniel Kikawa).
* Read through and play Game #1 in The Cross-Cultural Evangelism Game. If possible, use the workbook in a group-learning experience.
1. Although I know most of you did already, it is most effective when you do not look forward through the book. Start at the beginning and go through it page by page. It was created in this sequence for a reason.
2. If you are able to do a few of the questions with a group of people like your weekly Bible Study group, I think you will find it very insightful. At the beginning of each class I teach, I do two or three of these questions with the students to find out how they are thinking. I divide the class into groups of 3-4 people, read a question, and have them answer the question as a group. I also ask them to find a scriptural precedent for the answer they chose. Then I ask them the next question. After they have settled on their answers, we share them, find out their reasons for choosing them, and then read the comments for that question. I always learn so much by getting insights from different people with different backgrounds.

* Continue with the games in The Cross-Cultural Evangelism Game, concentrating on Game 2. If possible, use the workbook in a group-learning experience.

* Post thoughts and questions online. Besides your responses concerning your other assignments, write up a prayer for the Protestant churches in Ehime Prefecture.
