  • Hi, y’all. I’m Macy. I was born and raised in Franklin County, Virginia, but I recently moved to Yakima, Washington (where it’s no longer appropriate to say “y’all”). I’m 23 years old. I have a beautiful family back in Virginia. I am the oldest of five kids. My parents love God, each other, and us—in that order and very well. I love words: reading, writing, and listening to them. I am passionate and not very keen on balance. You can usually find me at either end of the spectrum, hardly in the middle. I haven’t made it to college yet, but I love learning and desire to go back to school. My favorite hobby is thrift shopping. I find inexpressible joy in old things, especially clothes.

I’ve been following Jesus for four years, and he has led me far away from everything I knew to teach me that he is my only true home. I have found no less hardship on this journey, but infinitely more beauty and glory. I want the world to know the God I know—incredibly intentional, intimate, and good. I decided I wanted to do cross-cultural missions in the fall of 2014. Through a nonlinear series of events, the vision narrowed on Asia. Then God brought the opportunity to learn about the Japanese, so I stepped into it. And I just keep stepping—one foot at a time. I plan to visit in the summer of 2018 for the first time. I am in the slow (and I do mean slow) process of learning the language. I have no idea where I will go, but I’m not afraid. Jesus is my home, and he is always with me.
