I'm 36 yr old, married to a wonderful guy and living on Vancouver Island, Canada with our two rather entertaining duck. From the time that I have been young, I have had 2 passions - marine biology and Japan. I was a professional marine biologist until 2015 when I resigned at the call of God to dedicate my life to the case of orphaned and vulnerable children. We had an exchange student from Japan live with us for a year when she and I were in grade 11 and she has become my sister. Our families have fully adopted one another. I visit Japan as often as I can and have been learning the language over the last 15+ years to be able to communicate with her family. I have a passion for Japan and her family and a desire to be able to effectively communicate the gospel of God's love to them in their own langue and in ways that make sense to their heart and understanding of the world. The more time I spend with them in Japan, the more I see the need for a relate-able, Japanese Jesus and not a foreign, American gospel with all the extra-biblical stuff that doesn't fit their world view. Every trip results in more conversations with friends and family there, closer relationships and more genuine connection, more questions posed to me, more opportunities to share the gospel. I'm always looking for tools and vocabulary and concepts to help convey the message - that has lead me to RJC.
