Profile

Emily Frey

Married to my amazing husband for 11 years this July, we have made Oklahoma City our home. My biggest job is wife to a hardworking peacemaker. He is a worship leader by weekend and state environmental quality manager (creation care) by day. He is the rock solid, realistic one who helps me keep my feet on the ground when I get big ideas--which is a lot! My other role is Mom to these three beautiful "small Freys": Lily (age 8), Ember (age 6) and Canyon (age 4). Typically, I spend my weeks making music with my husband, keeping house, coordinating outreach and care to international students on our local college campus with the BCM, and overseeing our state's growing Perspectives classes. Since quarantine, I have become a homeschool mom of three (or more, at times, when friends join). My background includes degrees in Elementary Education and Organizational Leadership.

My focus in international student ministry at the BCM for the last four years has been on Japanese students, most of which have come in groups of 12-20 with their universities to study English at the on-site language school for 8 months from September to April. Not only is it my job/ministry to connect with these students, but we also get to be Homestay host families for language immersion. This means we have students live with us as part of our families as they learn the language for 5-8 months at a time. While researching resources for evangelism and churches back home in their cities we could connect them to, we made a trip to Osaka in the summer of 2018. We connected with local missionaries and have since become immersed in reaching these students who are very socially active and interested in our faith.
