Hi Everyone! My name is Dawn Hill and I live in Rochelle, Illinois. I’ve been married to my husband Tim for 15 years and we have an 11 ½ year-old son named Kian and a 7 year-old daughter named Corrie. My husband is an architect and a high school math teacher and I have the privilege of home schooling our children and being involved in ministry in whatever way God wants to use me.

God knit a love for Japanese people into my heart from the young age of 15 by allowing me to work with Sumitomo employees processing salmon eggs at a cold storage in Ketchikan, Alaska. I worked there for about 7 summers, and then after college I was blessed to be called to Japan as a short-term missionary through a ministry now known as Asian Access. I spent two years teaching English and ministering in Urawa, Japan as a part of a Japanese congregation there, and then I got to be a part of a summer alumni team that ministered in Kaminoyama the following year.

Now, almost twenty years after returning from Japan, God has reopened the door for me to befriend and minister to Japanese people right here in our small town in the middle of farm fields. It is an exciting opportunity, and one that our church has embraced, but not without plenty of baffling obstacles that we are continuing to ask the Lord to overcome.

I’m very excited to learn more about Japanese culture and how to more effectively share the gospel with these people God treasures, and I can’t wait to interact and grow with all of you over these next 8 weeks!
